Both the teams would look to start positively and start off with a win at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. On the other side, Indian team emerged as the runner-up, but need to better their batting performance. The pitch will be beneficial for the bowlers with a lot of grass on the surface, and it will be exciting to see which team hold their nerves better and perform well.

England Opt to Bat: Ishant Sharma misses out

The England team have won the toss and have opted to bat in the 1st test match against India. While Ishant Sharma and Ravi Ashwin has been left out of the Playing 11. The former Indian batsman Sunil Gavaskar said on Sony Six Pre-show that the pacer is reported to be not 100% match fit for the match. Sharma injured his finger during the WTC Final, but the confirmation has not yet received for the reason behind the exclusion. The team is playing with 4 pacers, Shardul Thakur, Mohammad Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mohammad Shami.

The ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has also been excluded from the Playing 11 of ENG vs IND 1st test, which is quite shocking given his fantastic form , with experience and track record in England.
