RCB’s IPL campaign is going from bad to worse as the team has earned their sixth straight defeat in IPL 2019. Courtesy of Kagiso Rabada’s four wicket haul, Delhi Capitals restricted RCB to 149 runs and then skipper Shreyas Iyer scored 67 runs to take Delhi home.

RCB batsmen fail to stand up as a unit, againĀ

One of the key reasons for RCB’s abysmal performance in IPL 2019 is the failure of their batting order to stand up as a unit. And the same story repeated in the game against Delhi.

Parthiv Patel was caught by Sandeep Lamichhane on Chris Morris’ ball in the second over while AB de Villiers was dismissed by Rabada in the sixth over.

The departure of Marcus Stoinis in the 11th over pushed RCB further in the rut although skipper Kohli was standing tall from the other end. Kohli tried to stage a partnership with Moeen Ali who scored a brisk 32 off 18 balls in the middle overs.

Just when Moeen looked good for a big innings he was outfoxed by Lamichhane and was stumped by Rishabh Pant. Rabada came back to produce the big wicket of Kohli in the 18th over and inflicted further damage by removing Akashdeep Nath and Pawan Negi in the same over.

Rabada’s three blows ensured RCB’ didn’t have any flourish and managed to get just 149 runs in 20 overs.

Iyer guides Delhi’s chase

Tim Southee tried to bring back RCB in the game by removing Shikhar Dhawan on the first ball of his day but Prithvi Shaw and Shreyas Iyer added 68 runs for the second wicket in 8.1 overs to repair the damage.

Colin IngramĀ  (22 off 21 balls) and Rishabh Pant (18 off 14 balls) kept Delhi on course as Iyer completed his fifty from the other end.

However Iyer (67 off 50 balls) and and Morris were dismissed in the span of three balls in the 18th over and the ghosts of the past haunted Delhi. Pant’s departure in the next over added to Delhi’s woes but Axar Patel hammered a four of his first ball to ensure Delhi didn’t have another deja vu and registered their third win.
