The hosts flexed their muscles with disdain in the fifth and final India vs Windies ODI to complete a 3-1 series win over the tourists. Like the last match, the final ODI at Thiruvananthapuram turned out to be a damp squib.
Opting to bat first, Windies lost Kieron Powell and their leading run-scorer of the tournament, Shai Hope in the first two overs. Marlon Samuels played some exquisite shots before Ravindra Jadeja (4-35) chipped in to nip out the right-hander. Hetmeyar (9) followed suit when he missed a straight ball from Jadeja to be adjudged LBW.
Again, it was all down to the skipper Jason Holder to save the Windies from the blemishes but India’s bowling unit was relentless as Khaleel Ahmed (2-29) and Kuldeep Yadav (1-180 too chipped in to eventually bowl the tourists out for 104 in 31.5 overs.
