IPL mega auction is more or less confirmed at this point in time. Some teams will have their task cut out in choosing their top 4 players for retention while some teams don’t have the headache as there are very few worthy of being retained.
According to some unconfirmed sources, a team can retain a total of 4 players that can be a combination of either 3 Indians and 1 foreigner or 2 Indians and 2 foreigners.
They have the toughest task when it comes to retention. The skipper Rohit Sharma, fast bowling superstar Jasprit Bumrah, and all rounder Hardik Pandya are direct choices with Kieron Pollard being the 4th option. This means they will have to leave out Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav.
They might have to make the tough choice of leaving out Shikhar Dhawan and Anrich Nortje to retain the other 4 superstars.

According to CSK CEO, MS Dhoni might play another 2 years and that would mean Suresh Raina playing for the same number of years as well. This makes the lives of CSK management easier as their choices would be obvious.
Similar to SRH, they might not retain more than 2 players. They definitely don’t want to lock themselves by retaining Pat Cummins and Eoin Morgan who were disappointing for KKR in the last 2 years. If KKR have plans to retain 4 players, these are the players worthy of retaining,

They might have to make some really tricky decisions in retaining the 4 players. They have some exciting talents like Karthik Tyagi and Riyan Parag but the likes of Jos Buttler, Sanju Samson and Jofra Archer are ahead in the pecking order.
