Jos Buttler AUS vs ENG: In a big breaking news update, England have rested their captain Jos Buttler for the second ODI game against Australia scheduled to take place at the Sydney Cricket Ground in Sydney. After having won the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 title, the visiting England team went down to concede a poor 6-wicket defeat at the hands of Australia in the opening ODI encounter. The English side will now be eyeing for a strong fightback to level the three-match ODI series.
During the toss, it was revealed that senior all-rounder Moeen Ali will captain the England side for this second ODI game against Australia. Buttler has been rested after playing regularly throughout the entire ICC T20 World Cup 2022 winning campaign. During the first ODI against Australia, the English captain scored 29 runs before getting dismissed by leggie Adam Zampa. England’s stand-in skipper Moeen stated that they have made as many as four changes to their playing 11 from the last match as Chris Woakes, Sam Curran, Adil Rashid and himself are in for Olly Stone, Luke Wood, Chris Jordan and Buttler. Sam Billings will don the wicket-keeping gloves in this match.
“We would have probably bowled as well, maybe. There’s four changes. Myself, Rashid, Curran and Woakes come in. We bat long so hopefully chase whatever they get,” said England’s stand-in captain Moeen Ali during the toss.
