Changes in India T20 World Cup Squad: In a massive news update, pace bowler Shardul Thakur has replaced left-arm spinner Axar Patel in India’s 15-member squad for the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2021. The mega event kickstarts with the Round 1 scheduled to begin from 17 October. However, the main part of the T20 World Cup starts from October 23 and thus, the International Cricket Council (ICC) had already announced that the teams part of the Super 12 round can submit their final squads until 15 October.

Changes in India T20 World Cup Squad

The Chetan Sharma-led Selection Committee has revealed that Shardul Thakur has been included in the India’s 15-member squad in place of Axar Patel for this year’s T20 World Cup. Meanwhile, Axar is now part of the reserves which also includes Deepak Chahar and Shreyas Iyer. On the other hand, the selectors also announced that the likes of Avesh Khan, Umran Malik, Harshal Patel, Venkatesh Iyer, Lukman Meriwala, Karn Sharma, Shahbaz Ahmed and Krishnappa Gowtham will be part of the Indian team bio-bubble to assist in the preparations.

Virat Kohli (captain), Rohit Sharma (vice-captain), KL Rahul, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Rahul Chahar, Ravichandran Ashwin, Shardul Thakur, Varun Chakravarthy, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammad Shami.

Stand-by players: Shreyas Iyer, Deepak Chahar, Axar Patel

The following cricketers will join the team bubble in Dubai and assist Team India in their preparations:

ICC T20 World Cup 2021 Start Date

Before start of the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, Team India is scheduled to play two warm-up matches. India will be locking horns with England in their first warm-up match on 18 October at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. The Indian team will be facing Australia in their second warm-up fixture on 20 October at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai. India will kickstart their ICC T20 World Cup 2021 campaign against Pakistan on 24 October at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.
