Due to the rising cases of covid in India, there have been strict guidelines that are laid to organize the tournament in a safe manner. The 1st match will be played between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk. The 7-day quarantine rule was imposed on the players arriving from different countries or different cities. Few players from different teams have been tested positive and Josh Hazlewood pulled out of the IPL due to the same reasons.
The South Africa fast bowlers who played for the national team in the ODI series against Pakistan last week arrived in India on April 6 and have to follow the strict 7-day quarantine. It is confirmed that both the players will be missing the first league match against Chennai Super Kings on April 10. Kagiso Rabada picked the most wickets in the IPL 2020 and won the purple cap and Anrich Nortje was also one of the best performers for the team. A total of 52 wickets were taken between them that helped the team to reach the finals. Alongside him, Axar Patel who was found to be positive will have to test negative by April 10 and return with two negative reports.
The team has a good bowling attack in the presence of Indian as well as overseas options who have good experience in international cricket. The Indian fast bowlers Ishant Sharma and Umesh Yadav are likely to play the first league match against CSK.
The other overseas options are England seamers, Chris Woakes and Tom Curran. Between the two, only 1 of them is expected to feature in this match. The spin options for the team are Amit Mishra and Ravichandran Ashwin.
