Virat Kohli ENG vs IND: India is all set to face hosts England in the first of the three ODI matches on 12 July, 2022 (Tuesday) at the Kennington Oval in London. The Men in Blue performed remarkably well to defeat England by comprehensive margin during the first and second T20I matches sealing the three-match T20I series by a 2-1 margin. There have been a lot of talks doing the rounds recently regarding Virat Kohli’s poor form with the bat and some have also questioned his place in the national team.

In a big news update, it is being understood that Virat Kohli will miss the first ODI game against England on Tuesday due to a groin strain. A source from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed that Kohli sustained a groin injury during the third and final T20I match against England on Sunday, however, it is still not certain as to what point of time in the game he conceded the injury. The 33-year-old batsman has not performed very well in the recent while across the three formats of the game that includes low scores in both the 2nd and 3rd T20I against England. There is still no clear update whether Virat will be available for selection in the remaining two ODIs against England or not.

“Virat has a groin strain during last game. It can’t be confirmed whether it happened during fielding or while batting. He will probably miss first ODI tomorrow at Oval as the groin needs rest,” a BCCI source told PTI on condition of anonymity.

In the absence of Virat Kohli, Team India do not have much of options in the ODI squad. There will be a toss up between Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan for the No.3 spot in the batting line-up for the first ODI against England.
