India have a 2-1 lead in the five-match Test series against England after their remarkable performances at the Lord’s and Oval in 2021. After testing positive for COVID-19 and not having recovered in the last few days, Rohit Sharma is not available for selection in the all-important 5th Test match against England starting from Friday. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) also confirmed that Jasprit Bumrah has been appointed as the India Test captain for this crucial game while wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant will be his deputy. Bumrah has become the first pacer in 35 years to lead India in a Test match after legendary cricketer Kapil Dev.
