Jamie Overton: England have already clinched the three-match Test series against New Zealand. The third match, which will be a dead-rubber, is slated to take place at Leeds from June 23. The Ben Stokes-led side have named their playing XI for the final match. The hosts have rested ace pacer James Anderson for the match and in his place they have handed debut to young Jamie Overton.
A 6 feet 5 inches Jamie Overton is the fast-bowling all-rounder who plays for Surrey County Cricket Club. Born on 10th April 1994, Jamie is a a brother of Craig Overton. He gained the limelight during the Under-19 World Cup 2012, when he clocked 150 kmph. In 2020, he was offered a three year contract by the Surrey and in 2022, he was bought by Manchester Originals for the Hundred season 2022.

Talking about his stats, Jamie Overton has played 82 First-Class matches in which he has taken 206 wickets to go with 5 five-wicket haul. Apart from this he has also been a part of 42 List A matches and 80 T20s in which he has taken 57 and 66 wickets at an economy of 6.28 and 9.32 respectively.
He’s no mug with the bat as he also has scored 1872 runs to go with 1 century and 11 half-centuries. He also has 399 and 511 in List A and T20s respectively.

With Anderson and Stokes being doubtful due to fitness issues, there were lot of speculations about England’s XI going into the Test match. While the Three Lions have rested the pacer, skipper Stokes is deemed fit and will play the Test match while there’s a debut for Jamie Overton.
