PAK Playing 11: After losing the ODI series comprehensively, Pakistan will face England in the first T20I of the series here at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The visitors suffered a stunning defeat to a depleted England side in ODIs and will be looking to bounce back. They have taken time to adjust to the English conditions. Though they have got better, they are still looking for their first win on this tour. The fast-paced T20I format might be just what Pakistan needs to get back on the track. In the head-to-head record in T20Is, England leads Pakistan 12-5.

Team News

  • Experienced T20I specialists like Mohammad Hafeez, Imad Wasim and Sharjeel Khan return to the side for this series.
  • There are a number of new faces in the squad like Azam Khan, Arshad Iqbal and Mohammad Wasim Jr. who were impressive in the recently concluded PSL.

PAK Playing 11 (likely)

Babar Azam (C)
Mohammad Rizwan (wk)
Fakhar Zaman
Mohammad Hafeez
Sohaib Maqsood
Shadab Khan
Imad Wasim
Faheem Ashraf
Hasan Ali
Shaheen Shah Afridi
Haris Rauf

Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan opened the batting in South Africa and could continue to do so given their success so far. But the problem lies in the middle order. Apart from Hafeez, no other batter is looking experienced enough to carry the side through. Maqsood looked impressive in the ODIs and is likely to keep his place. Shaheen Afridi and Hasan Ali will have their task cut out against this powerful England batting line-up.
