Fans elated after Kohli, Dhoni named captains of CA's teams of the decade

Cricket Australia announced their ODI and Test team of the decade and they have selected MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli to captain the sides, respectively.MS Dhoni is one of the best captains ever in limited over formats. He is the only captain to win all three major ICC trophies (World T20 in 2007, World Cup in 2011 & Champions Trophy in 2013).

Virat Kohli, on the other hand, is India’s most successful Captain in tests. He is the only Indian skipper to win a Test series in Australia. He also came very close to become the first Indian captain to win a test series in South Africa too.

Dhoni to lead ODI Team of the Decade

Cricket Australia announced its ODI and Test teams of the decade today and MS Dhoni has been selected as the Captain and Wicket Keeper of the ODI side.

“The input of MS Dhoni with the bat did tail off during the latter part of the decade, but he was a dominant force in a golden period for India’s one-day side. Having assured his greatness by guiding his nation to World Cup glory on home soil in 2011″ – CA said on the inclusion of Dhoni.

They also said that on 28 occasions he has been not out in a run chase, India has lost only 3 times this decade and that makes him perfect for the finisher role.

“And his work behind the stumps has rarely let him or his bowlers down.” – They concluded.

Rohit Sharma and Indian skipper Virat Kohli were also named in the ODI XI of the decade.

Virat Kohli named skipper of the Test Team of the Decade

King Kohli has been named as the captain of the Test team of the decade by CA.

“India began the decade worshipping Sachin Tendulkar and ended it with Kohli having assumed the mantle as the cricket-mad country’s demigod, and it is little wonder; through the 2010s, the India skipper topped the Test centuries tally with 27, seven of which were doubles.” – CA on Virat.

They also said that Virat has achieved new heights along with India after becoming the leader of the side. He averages 63.80 as the captain and the has the best winning percentage of 62.26 is the best of any Indian skipper.

“The once self-described brat has also evolved into one of the game’s most respected figures, recently speaking out about mental health and ushering in a new standard of fitness within his country’s cricket ranks.” – They further added.
