The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a huge blow as the overseas fast bowler Kyle Jamieson has been ruled out from the entire Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season due to a back injury. MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will be playing their IPL 2023 opener against the defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on 31 March, 2023. After a really disappointing campaign in the IPL 2022 season, CSK will be looking forward to turn things around this year.
Chennai Super Kings bought New Zealand’s lanky fast bowler Kyle Jamieson during the IPL 2023 auction for INR 1 Crore. However, the Kiwi fast bowler has not played competitive cricket since June 2022 where he played a Test match in England and now a back injury has completely ruled him out from IPL 2023. Earlier, Jamieson made his IPL debut in 2021 when the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) bought him for a whopping INR 15 Crore, but eventually he managed to pick just 9 wickets from as many matches at an economy of 9.60.
On the other hand, CSK have signed South Africa’s pace bowler Sisanda Magala as the replacement for this Indian Premier League season. Magala is yet to make his IPL debut, but he has taken a total of 139 wickets from as many as 129 T20 games at an economy of less than 9.
