In a crucial news update, the Gujarat Titans (GT) are not playing their premier fast bowler Shivam Mavi in the first match of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2023) season against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) being hosted at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Gujarat Titans ended up lifting the prestigious silverware in their debut edition of IPL 2022 after having beaten Rajasthan Royals in the finals and performed consistently well throughout the entire T20 competition. The Hardik Pandya-led GT team will be looking forward to perform really well in IPL 2023 as well.
After winning the toss and opting to bowl first in Match 1 of IPL 2023, Gujarat Titans captain Hardik Pandya revealed that Shivam Mavi is not part of the GT Playing 11 for this GT vs CSK match. Incidentally, Gujarat Titans bought Mavi during the IPL 2023 auction for a staggering price of INR 6 Crore and the right-arm pace bowler then also went on to make his India T20I debut. In his IPL career so far, the 24-year-old pacer has taken as many as 30 wickets from a total of 32 matches at an economy of 8.71. However, the Gujarat Titans have went ahead with Ireland fast bowler Joshua Little alongside Mohammed Shami, Alzarri Joseph and Yash Dayal in the bowling attack with skipper Hardik Pandya and Vijay Shankar as the all-rounders.
