After his discussion with Dravid, Kohli informed BCCI secretary Jay Shah earlier in the day about his decision to step down as the Test captain as “he is tired”. It is being understood that the Board of Control for Cricket in India accepted his decision and never asked him to reconsider the same. A report by the PTI also states that Rahul Dravid is already preparing a brand new roadmap for Indian cricket that actually involves Virat Kohli only as a Test batter.

Another possible reason for Virat Kohli’s massive call of quitting Test captaincy all of a sudden could be his ongoing controversy with the BCCI post him being removed as the ODI captain in December 2021.
