Highest score in T20 – T20s are a batter-friendly format but it requires the batter to score runs quickly placing little value on their wickets. So individual hundreds in T20s are quite rare compared to the other two formats. But when a batter is in great touch and the opposition attack suits his style of batting, there’s no stopping the batter from achieving the milestone.
Since the advent of T20Is, only 77 individual hundreds have been scored in the format from a total of 1024 matches (as of 21st February 2022) which equals a hundred once every 13 games. Now let’s take a look at the highest individual scores in T20Is.
1. 172 – Aaron Finch vs Zimbabwe
The highest score in T20Is and the second-highest score in all T20s only bettered by C Gayle’s 175 in 2013. After being put in to bat by Zimbabwe, Aaron Finch took their bowlers to the cleaners with a brutal display of power-hitting. He hit 16 boundaries and 10 sixes scoring almost 75% runs of the team’s total, the highest in all T20s. He also shared a record opening partnership of 223 runs with D’Arcy Short.
2. 162* – Hazratullah Zazai vs Ireland
Hazratullah Zazai was an unknown commodity in the international circuit before he cracked an unbeaten 62 ball 162 against Ireland in 2019. He hit 16 sixes en route to his 162 which is the highest in all T20Is and along with U Ghani he broke the record for the highest partnership in T20Is.
