ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Schedule: In a massive development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) have announced the schedule for upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 set to be played in Australia. The T20 tournament is scheduled to start from 16 October, 2022 and final will take place on 13 November at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). Defending champions and hosts Australia will start their title defence against Trans-Tasmanian rivals New Zealand on 22 October at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG).

The upcoming edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2022 will have a total of 16 teams out of which only 12 sides will manage to qualify for the Super 12 stage of the competition. At this moment, the Group 1 of the Super 12 consists of Australia, England, New Zealand and Afghanistan while India, Pakistan, South Africa and Bangladesh are placed in the Group 2. The blockbuster clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will take place on 23 October, 2022 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

ICC T20 World Cup 2022 Start Date

The qualifying round of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 is scheduled to be played from 16 October to 21 October, out of which as many as 4 teams will make it to the Super 12 stages. As of now, the Group A of the First Round features Sri Lanka and Namibia while the two-time T20 World Cup champions West Indies and Scotland are slotted in Group B. A total of four more teams will also join the two groups.

Earlier, this edition of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup was supposed to happen in 2020 but the competition had to be postponed due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation. The Cricket Australia (CA) then agreed to swap the hosting rights with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), who later hosted the ICC event in the UAE last year.
