Rishabh Pant: In a massive breaking news development, India is not playing their swashbuckling wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant in the first match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 against Pakistan scheduled to be played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne. The Indian team will definitely be hoping to avenge their disappointing loss conceded against Pakistan during the previous edition of the ICC T20 World Cup in the UAE.

During the toss, India skipper Rohit Sharma stated that they have gone ahead with Dinesh Karthik as their wicket-keeper batsman ahead of Rishabh Pant in this massive encounter against Pakistan. The Indian team management have consistently backed this trend of playing Karthik as their premier finisher and the senior cricketer has also proved his metal with the bat during the recent while. Dinesh Karthik had an outstanding edition of the IPL 2022 for the Royal Challengers Bangalore which paved the way for his national comeback. On the other hand, left-handed Pant has not done well either with the bat during the last few games and also failed in the two practice games against Western Australia.

“We are going to field first. Looks like a good pitch, it’s always nice to bowl with overcast conditions. Think the ball will swing around a bit, and we need to take its advantage. Preparations have been good. We played a couple of practice games in Brisbane. Time to come out and enjoy ourselves now. We were expecting nothing less than this, hopefully we’ll entertain them (the crowd). We have seven batters, three seamers and two spinners,” said Indian captain Rohit Sharma at the toss.
