The third and final clash of the three-match One Day International (ODI) series is scheduled to be played on Tuesday (October 11). The game at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi, however, has been interrupted by the rain. The toss for the India versus South Africa third ODI has been delayed due to the rain in Delhi.

The Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian team, after losing the first ODI in Lucknow last week, flew to Ranchi for the second one. Unlike the first ODI, the Indian middle order viz. Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan showcased an excellent batting show while chasing the target of 279 runs. Iyer smashed an unbeaten knock of 113 runs in 11 deliveries with 15 fours in his account. Kishan meanwhile, scored 93 runs in 84 deliveries with four boundaries and seven sixes at his home ground.

The duo of Iyer and Kishan guided India to a dominating victory but not before a troublesome partnership of 129 runs between Reeza Hendricks and Aiden Markram for South Africa, in the first innings. India’s Mohammed Siraj then picked up three wickets. In the end, India won the derby by seven wickets.

In search of the series win, both the teams flew to Delhi, and are still supposed to finish the series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. However, it has been raining continuously in the Indian capital. The ground too was covered for the last 72 hours due to rain.

Following the weather conditions at the venue, the toss for the third ODI was delayed. As stated by the Board for Control of Cricket in India (BCCI), the official inspection was to be made at 1:30 PM. The further decision was to be announced after the inspection, by the match officials.

However, with some relief, the toss has been done and India have won the toss deciding to bowl first. Dhawan has opted for an unchanged playing XI from Ranchi. For South Africa meanwhile, Temba Bavuma and Keshav Maharaj are out; David Miller is captaining the side. The play will begin at 2:00 PM.
