The Shikhar Dhawan-led Indian men’s cricket team is set to face South Africa in the third One Day International (ODI). The game will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on Tuesday (October 11) at 1:30 PM.

India lost the first ODI of the three-match series in Lucknow earlier. Batters David Miller and Heinrich Klaasen’s unbeaten partnership of 139 runs and Lungi Ngidi’s three wickets then, aided the Proteas men to attain a victory.

Furthermore, in the second ODI however, South Africa opted to bat first and put on a decent total of 278 runs. Middle-order batters Aiden Markram and Reeza Hendricks built a partnership of 129 runs; Markram scored 79 runs, while Hendricks scored 74. Meanwhile, India’s Mohammed Siraj picked up three wickets.

In response, India’s Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan were enough to guide the side to victory. Iyer scored his second ODI ton, while Kishan scored 93 runs at his home ground. Iyer’s unbeaten knock of 113 runs helped India to win the Ranchi derby by seven wickets.

As the tour nears the end, the sides will play the third and final ODI of the series at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi. When South Africa last came here, in Delhi, in June 2022, the temperature was hovering around 45° celcius. However, it’s October but the rain scare will be hanging around the venue on the matchday. After the first ten days of October, the Indian capital recorded 121.7 mm of rain.

Moreover, the weather forecast is showing more sunshine and less amount of scattered rain on Tuesday. Although, the ground has been covered for the last 72 hours due to heavy rain nearby the stadium. The pitch is like to offer some help to the pacer and moisture may play a big role in the game anyway.

Besides, the three-match ODI series stands leveled 1-1. After losing the three-match T2OI series against the hosts, South Africa would be keen to depart for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Australia, on a good note. The visitors have displayed a couple of quality performances in the last two ODIs but India will not afford a defeat at home.
