IND vs SL: In an important news development, Sri Lanka’s premier middle-order batsman Pathum Nissanka is unlikely to be available for the second Test match against India starting from 12 March in Bengaluru. The second and final game of the series will be a day-night fixture scheduled to be played with the pink ball at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Sri Lanka conceded a massive innings and 222 runs loss against India in the first Test of the two-match series.

According to relevant sources, Sri Lanka’s promising batter Pathum Nissanka is very much likely to miss the second Test against India due to a back injury. The right-hander has reported sustained the injury during the visitors training session in Bengaluru ahead of the day-night Test match. Nissanka contributed with a fine knock of 61 runs in the first innings of the previous game in Mohali.

The good news for the visiting Sri Lankan team is that Kusal Mendis has joined the squad for the second Test and is likely to be included in the playing 11 as well on Saturday. Incidentally, Mendis is yet to play international cricket in India across formats after having made his debut in October 2015.

India vs Sri Lanka Day Night Test

While talking about the developments from the Indian camp, left-arm spinner Axar Patel has attained complete fitness and replaced Kuldeep Yadav in the squad for the 2nd Test against Sri Lanka. He is now very much likely to be included straightaway in the playing XI in place of Jayant Yadav on Saturday. In India’s previous pink-ball Test match against England in Ahmedabad, Axar delivered a staggering performance as he ended up picking a six-wicket haul in the first innings and a fifer in the second innings.
