Ishan Kishan IND vs WI: In a crucial development, India’s young wicket-keeper batsman Ishan Kishan is not part of the playing 11 in the 1st ODI game against West Indies scheduled to be played at the Queen’s Park Oval in Port of Spain, Trinidad. With a pretty inexperienced unit under the captaincy of Shikhar Dhawan, India is going to play a total of 3 ODI matches against West Indies. Recently, the Men in Blue defeated England on their home soil by 2-1 margin in a three-match ODI series.
After having lost the toss and being asked to bat first, India captain Shikhar Dhawan mentioned that Ishan Kishan is not part of the side for this first ODI match against West Indies. Incidentally, Ishan has not been part of the India playing 11 since the first T20I encounter in England and did not get a game during the three-match ODI series as well. India have named Sanju Samson as their specialist wicket-keeper batsman in the team. However, Kishan has mostly played white-ball cricket for India as an opener.

India team management have gone ahead with Shubman Gill as skipper Shikhar Dhawan’s opening partner for this 1st ODI against West Indies. Both Deepak Hooda and Sanju Samson are also part of the playing XI.
