The third T20I between Team India and New Zealand is taking place at Eden Gardens, Kolkata. The Rohit Sharma-led side has already clinched the series and would be eyeing a whitewash. On the other hand, the Kiwis will be playing for the pride and would be looking to give their everything to deny India the whitewash. 

Tim Southee rested for the third T20I against India 

Having being already lost the series 2-0, New Zealand has rested skipper Tim Southee for the match. The reason why the pacer is being rested is to manage the workload and keep him fresh for the Test series between the nations, which will kick start from 26th November.

In his absence, all-rounder Mitchell Santner will lead the side. The Black Caps have drafted fiery pacer Lockie Ferguson in place of Southee. 

While on the other hand, there are two changes for Team India as well. The Men in Blue have rested in-form batter KL Rahul and premier off-spinner R Ashwin. Ishan Kishan will open alongside skipper Rohit Sharma in the match while Yuzvendra Chahal has replaced Ashwin.

Indian skipper Rohit Sharma said that they need to try various things and want to put runs on the board. He revealed that his team have their plans sorted and that’s why the players have to wait for the opportunity.

“We gotta try various things and this is one of them. We want to put runs on the board and give the new set of bowlers a target to defend. We are very clear as to what we want to do that’s why Ishan has to wait for his opportunity, Chahal as well, he has been a champion bowler for us,” Rohit Sharma said.
