India’s tour of Australia: Virat Kohli XI beat KL Rahul XI by 5 wickets; skippers shine- SEE PICS

Practice matches are vital for assessing the conditions in any away tours. The Indian cricket team played an intra-squad 40-overs practice match on Sunday to prepare themselves ahead of the ODI series starting on November 27th. The entire squad was divided into two teams led by Virat Kohli and KL Rahul, and it was Kohli’s team that emerged victorious on this occasion.

KL Rahul shines for Ranjitsinhji XI

The BCCI posted the pictures of the Intra-Squad practice match on their official Instagram handle to keep their fans updated.

As it was visible from the BCCI Instagram stories posted yesterday, the entire Indian limited-overs squad was divided into two teams named CK Naidu XI led by Virat Kohli and Ranjitsinhji XI led by KL Rahul. The start of the match was interrupted by rain, but luckily the rain stopped after some time and the play resumed quickly.

It was KL Rahul’s Ranjitsinhji XI that came out to bat first. Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal opened the innings for them.

The team posted 235 runs in the span of 40 overs. It was the captain KL Rahul who starred with the bat. He scored a fluent 83 runs from 66 balls to take his side to a comfortable total.

Virat Kohli’s CK Naidu XI beats KL Rahul’s Ranjitsinji XI in the practice match

Chasing a moderate score of 236, Kohli send in two young openers- Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw to steady the ship.

Finally, the CK Naidu XI managed to get the better of Ranjitsinhji XI, as they won the match by a huge margin of 5 wickets, that too with 26 balls to spare. Captain Virat Kohli starred for the team with a massive score of 91 runs from just 58 balls.

As it was visible from the remaining Instagram stories of the BCCI, KL Rahul donned the wicket keeping gloves for his team and Ravichandran Ashwin remained unbeaten in the chase.

Team India will play three ODIs, three T20Is, and four Test matches against hosts Australia in their upcoming tour Down Under. The series begins with the ODI series on November 27th.
