IPL 2020: 5 Reasons why CSK can outshine MI this season

The greatest cricket carnival on earth starts with the El-Classico of the tournament being the inaugural match. CSK being the most consistent team in the tournament, have always failed to outshine their arch rivals and the most successful team Mumbai Indians, especially when it comes to knockouts. Super Kings have a better head to head record against every other team in IPL except Mumbai. But this year the chances of CSK outshining MI are quite high.

Here are the five reasons why we think so.

1. Spin Web

CSK went into the auction table with a clear cut plan. When others were fighting out for top names in the pool, CSK bagged players that could well fit into the Chepauk pitch. With the purchase of Piyush Chawla and Sai Kishore, CSK has expanded their spin armoury. With spinners likely to bowl 11-12 overs or more in each innings in Chepauk, the opposition will find it extremely difficult to score runs in that pitch. And if the opposition looks to target the pace bowlers, the swing of Chahar and cutters of Ngidi and Sam Curran are tailor made for that pitch.

2. Early practice and bonding sessions

CSK have started their IPL preparations much before every team. You may call them the Dad’s army, but they do have the advantage of starting their preparations early as most of their star players are either retired or are free of national duties. Even CSK’s captain MS Dhoni and his lieutenant Suresh Raina has started their preparations at a time when even the domestic players of other franchises are busy playing various tournaments. As seen from the past, teams that gel together fastly perfom consistently.
