SRH Retained Players – The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) had a horrendous campaign in the last edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The Kane Williamson-led team finished the season at the bottom of the points table with as many as 3 wins and suffered a total of 11 losses in the group stage of the T20 tournament.
Sunrisers Hyderabad changed their captain as senior player David Warner was even dropped alongside some of the other players from the playing XI in the second half of the competition.
It is very much obvious now that the Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking forward to a complete transition by procuring new players in the upcoming IPL mega auction.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have made an astonishing decision to retain just three players, in their skipper Kane Williamson and the uncapped pair of Abdul Samad and Umran Malik ahead of the IPL 2022 mega auction. This also means that SRH will be releasing a whole lot of cricketers that includes many star players as well. Incidentally, under Williamson’s leadership, Sunrisers Hyderabad also qualified for the finals in IPL 2018. SRH will walk into the mega auction with a heavy purse worth INR 68 crore.

New Zealand captain Kane Williamson will be a receiving a whopping amount of worth INR 14 crore in IPL 2022 as he is the only retained player by the Sunrisers Hyderabad. The right-handed Kiwi batter had a breakthrough performance in the IPL 2018 season where he won the Orange Cap having finished the season as the highest run-getter with an outstanding tally of 735 runs from 17 matches that included a total of 8 half-centuries.

The Sunrisers Hyderabad have made a surprising choice to retain Abdul Samad as their second player and he will now be getting a salary worth INR 4 crore. Samad is yet to play a big innings in the IPL but he has surely shown glimpses of his power-hitting heroics during the last two seasons.

Jammu & Kashmir speedster Umran Malik bowled the fastest delivery in his debut IPL season in the UAE where he was consistently clocking over 150 km/hr. Umran was included in the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad as a replacement for T Natarajan and the youngster has now been retained by his IPL franchise for a whopping amount of INR 4 crore.
