IPL Mega Auction: In a massive news development, some of star foreign players including the trio of Ben Stokes, Chris Gayle and Mitchell Starc will not be part of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) mega auction. It has officially been confirmed that this year’s IPL mega auction will take place on 12 and 13 February, 2022 in Bengaluru. All the 10 teams including newly introduced Lucknow and Ahmedabad IPL franchises have also announced their respective list of retained players ahead of the auction.
According to some relevant sources, the likes of Joe Root, Chris Gayle, Mitchell Starc, Ben Stokes, Jofra Archer, Sam Curran and Chris Woakes are amongst the noticeable players who are not part of the IPL 2022 mega auction list initially as of now. It is almost certain that the English duo of Root and Stokes have decided to skip IPL 2022 in order to prioritise the revival of England’s Test cricket. However, the absence of Gayle, Curran, Archer, Starc and Woakes comes as a major surprise.
|List of Foreign Players Out of IPL Mega Auction|
As many as 1214 cricketers from all over the world have been included in the initial list of the IPL 2022 mega auction as shared by the franchises on 21 January. The list comprises of 896 Indian players and 318 foreign cricketers. Out of the 1214 names, 270 are capped, 903 uncapped and 41 players are from the Associate nations like Nepal, UAE, Oman, Scotland and Netherlands while 14 players are from USA as well part of the list.
Some of the noticeable Indian players who have listed their base price of INR 2 crore are namely Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Shikhar Dhawan, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Ishan Kishan, Devdutt Padikkal and many more. On the other hand, the overseas cricketers with a base price of INR 2 crore are Pat Cummins, David Warner, Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh, Dwayne Bravo, Quinton de Kock, Steve Smith.
