Josh Hazlewood IPL 2022: Once again in an Indian Premier League (IPL) season, the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) have had a mixed start to their campaign. The Faf du Plessis-led RCB team suffered a disappointing start to this IPL 2022 season with a 5-wicket loss at the hands of Punjab Kings in their first match but then they came back strongly to register their first-ever win this year against Kolkata Knight Riders. In their third match of the season, Royal Challengers Bangalore will be locking horns with Rajasthan Royals on 5 April at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

RR vs RCB: Josh Hazlewood IPL 2022 to join RCB Playing XI?

The Royal Challengers Bangalore team management had done some really good work at the IPL 2022 auction table especially when they bought Australia’s premier pace bowler Josh Hazlewood for an worth INR 7.75 Crore. However, that move is yet to pay dividends as Hazlewood has not joined the RCB camp in India at this moment. The right-arm pacer was last involved in the Pakistan vs Australia three-match Test series and is now very much likely to travel to India in the upcoming few days.

While playing for the Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2021, Josh Hazlewood ended up picking a total of 11 wickets from 9 matches at an economy of less than 9. He also bowled amazingly well in Australia’s sensational 2021 T20 World Cup winning campaign. Hazlewood’s presence will strengthen the Royal Challengers Bangalore bowling attack this season.

“Hazlewood would be joining the team in next couple of days. Unlike others, he didn’t directly link up with his franchise post Pakistan series. He has taken a short break due to personal reasons,” an IPL source told PTI on the condition of anonymity.

Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore

Even though Glenn Maxwell has completed his mandatory quarantine period, he is very much unlikely to be available for the Rajasthan Royals vs Royal Challengers Bangalore game on Tuesday. Therefore, RCB will be expected to go ahead with the winning combination from the last game.

“From a Cricket Australia point of view, no contracted players are available before the 6th of April. So, regardless of when they arrive over here, no one can play until the 6th. We’ve been well aware of that as any other side, we’ve planned for that. Maxi will be with us and available from the 9th (of April),” Mike Hesson, RCB Director of Cricket Operations, said.
