IPL Covid 19 News: Monday has started in the worst possible way for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), as bad news keep engulfing Indian cricket. It all started with the news that three players from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) camp returned a positive test on Monday, followed by the news that CSK Bowling Coach Lakshmipathy Balaji, CEO Kasi Viswanathan and a bus cleaner also tested Covid-19 positive.
As per the latest developments, five members of the Delhi & District Cricket Association have also got the coronavirus infection. That’s a big blow considering the matches are being held at Feroz Shah Kotla. This could jump-start a Covid-19 chain reaction should the worse happen as players currently in Delhi for IPL games, may have come in contact with the staff at some point and there’s every chance that the players may or may not have contracted the virus. The situation remains obscure and will be clear only after the next Covid-19 reports.
Australian speedster Pat Cummins returned a positive test on Monday, along with teammates Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrier. IPL governing council was forced to postpone the match between Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore which was scheduled for Monday, May 3, at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The new date for the match will be announced in due time.
Chennai Super Kings also came under the Covid 19 bus as three non-playing members of the team have been tested positive for the coronavirus.
CSK bowling coach Lakshmipathy Balaji as well as CEO Kasi Viswanathan and a bus cleaner have got the infection and are in isolation at the moment.
