Ireland Squad for IRE vs IND: In an important news development, hosts Ireland have announced their squad for the upcoming two-match T20I series against India. Ireland is all set to host India for a two-match historic T20I series starting with the opening encounter on 26 June, 2022. The second T20I match will be played on 28 June, 2022 and both the games are scheduled to take place at the Castle Avenue in Dublin.

Cricket Ireland have announced a 14-man squad for the upcoming home T20I series against India. The uncapped duo of Stephen Doheny and Conor Olphert have earned their maiden call-ups. On the other hand, Simi Singh and Shane Getkate have been dropped from the Ireland T20I squad as they were part of the side during the T20 World Cup Qualifier held earlier this year. Andrew Balbirnie will captain the Ireland T20I team alongside experienced players like Paul Stirling, George Dockrell, Curtis Campher and Craig Young.

“There aren’t many better challenges for a new national coach to have than to start your tenure against the world’s number one-ranked T20I side, India,” Andrew White, Chair of National Men’s Selectors, said.

“The T20I squad features a familiar core to the squad, but it’s pleasing to see a number of new faces earn their call-ups in Stephen Doheny and Conor Olphert. Both Warriors’ players have impressed at inter-provincial level this season with consistent performances, while Doheny has also come off the back of a good tour of Namibia with the Ireland Wolves. Olphert has bowled quickly, particularly on good wickets at Comber last month, and his selection gives us an opportunity to look at him as a tactical option given what lies ahead for the rest of the year,” he added.
