The inaugural champions are hit hard by the injuries with key players such as Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer nursing injuries, while Liam Livingstone also pulled out of the IPL due to a personal reason, leaving RR with only five overseas players on their roster. As per reports, Rajasthan Royals are going to sign Rassie Van Der Dussen as a replacement for Ben Stokes and Liam Livingstone. However, the deal is yet to go through. There are reports that Dussen is waiting to get visa clearance before boarding on a flight to India.

That means Dussen won’t be available to play against Kolkata Knight Riders. As per Covid-19 protocols, a player must complete a seven-day quarantine period before joining the team in the IPL bubble.

Things have taken a turn for worse for Rajasthan Royals as reports indicate that Jofra Archer is likely to miss the entire IPL 2021 due to an elbow injury. The news poured cold water over the rumours that Archer could be available for the second half of the season.

England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed the news on Friday:

“Archer will now step up his training regime starting next week and will be in full training with Sussex. It is expected that he will return to cricket in the next fortnight if he can continue to bowl and prepare pain-free. The ECB will confirm which matches he is expected to play in due course,” a statement from ECB read.

Ben Stokes Injury:

As mentioned, RR are also without the services of England all-rounder Ben Stokes. The 29-year-old fractured his finger while fielding in Rajasthan Royals opening IPL 2021 game against Punjab Kings this ruling him out of the entire IPL 2021 campaign.
