Rohit Sharma confident after beating Bangladesh

Facing Pakistan

India is facing off against Pakistan on Sunday for the Super Four Asia Cup match. Captain Rohit Sharma wants to repeat the same ‘clinical performance’ against Pakistan that they delivered against Bangladesh. The team bowled out Bangladesh for a mere 173.

Rohit said that the team had played well from the start. He said he did not want to praise any one person but was greatly appreciative of the whole team. He said that on a pitch like that, the most important thing was to not let the batsmen settle, so they kept rotating bowlers and it worked wonders.

The new star

Making a comeback into the ODI team after almost a year, Ravindra Jadeja had a four-wicket haul which set the stage for India’s seven-wicket win. The captain himself scored an effortless unbeaten 83 and his 36th ODI fifty. Shikhar Dhawan scored 40 off 47 balls and together they provided a 61-run base.

Like earlier matches, Dhawan did not have long innings but surely had a fruitful one. Rohit said that if they continue to stick to their plans, they will win. After recovering and resting, he wants his team to perform similarly against Pakistan.

Bangladesh’s woes

Disappointed Bangladesh skipper Mashrafe Mortaza said that his batsmen should have played better. They have been failing to score in continuous matches. He accepted that it was too much to ask the bowlers to perform if only 170 runs had been scored.

They also faltered against Afghanistan on Thursday. Mortaza stated that they would have to play better in the next match which is against a strong team with good bowlers, he said.
