Mumbai Indians came under a lot of pressure after they lost both openers Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan in the power play. Dewald Brevis, who came to bat at 3, struggled to time the ball early and got off the mark after facing 8 deliveries.

The young South African batsman found his mojo back when he scored two boundaries off Arshdeep Singh in the 6th over. After that, he went berserk and targeted Rahul Chahar.

Brevis first smashed a four on the second delivery of Chahar’s and then tonked him for four massive sixes to end the 9th over with 29 runs. The right-hander scored 49 runs before falling to Odean Smith in the 11th over. His brutal knock helped Mumbai Indians reach 100-run mark with 10 overs.

MI vs PBKS:

Brevis’ innings provided MI a much needed momentum but after that they lost Tilak Varma (36) and Kieron Pollard (10) to run outs. Suryakumar Yadav tried hard after that. He smashed 43 runs in 30 balls but fell in the penultimate over. His wicket almost sealed the game for PBKS. Odean Smith then defended 22 runs in the last over to hand MI their fifth straight loss.
