Who won today’s IPL match?: The 23rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 took place between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at MCA Stadium in Pune. After suffering four consecutive losses, the Rohit Sharma-led side gave their fans some hope. But the pressure got better off them in the end and Punjab Kings completed a 12 runs victory to hand the Rohit Sharma-led side their fifth straight defeat in IPL 15.

Asked to bat first, Punjab Kings skipper Mayank Agarwal took his side off the flyer by scoring 52 runs in just 32 balls. He along with Shikhar Dhawan (70) scored 97 runs opening partnership. Jonny Bairstow tried hard but could manage only 12 runs as he was outfoxed by a slower delivery by Jaydev Unadkat. A cameo by Jitesh Sharma (30*) and Shahrukh Khan (15) in the end powered PBKS to the mammoth total of 198/5. For MI, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers and finished with the figures of 1/28.

Chasing the target, MI skipper Rohit Sharma came out all guns blazing and scored 28 runs in just 17 balls but once again fell after a good start. Ishan Kishan (3) too perished soon and the Men in Blue found themselves tumbling at 32/2. However, after that Dewald Brevis was at his rampaging best and took PBKS bowlers to the cleaners. He scored 49 runs out which he scored 28 runs in one over. He was complimented well by Tilak Varma, who scored 36 runs. Suryakumar Yadav tried his best but pressure got better off him and was back in the hue in the penultimate over for 43 runs. Odean Smith then defended 22 runs in the last over to help PBKS complete a 12-run victory.

Punjab Kings skipper Mayank Agarwal was awarded Man of the Match in today’s encounter against Mumbai Indians in Pune. Opening the batting, the right-hander smashed MI bowlers all over the park and smashed his first half-century of the season. He scored 52 runs with the help of 6 fours and 2 sixes. He also stitched 97 runs for the opening partnership. He also took crucial catches and was a part of one run out in the field.
