Indian Premier League (IPL), the league has completed its 15 editions and every season has seen a plethora of sixes being hit.
Sanath Jayasuriya was the leading six hitter in the inaugural edition of the IPL. Playing for Mumbai Indians, the Sri Lankan batter smashed 31 sixes during that season and also amassed 518 runs. In 2019 it was Adam Gilchrist who hit most sixes in that IPL season as he tonked 29 sixes along with 495 runs. The next edition saw Robin Uthappa smashing the highest number of sixes as he hit 27 sixes along with 374 sixes.
The next three editions of the Indian Premier League was ruled by Chris Gayle as he smashed most sixes in IPL 2011, 12 & 13. He smashed 44, 59 and 51 runs respectively in three editions and scored 600 runs in those seasons. He was also the highest six hitter in IPL 2015, where he smashed 38 sixes and also scored 491 runs.
Glenn Maxwell hit most sixes in IPL 2014. The Punjab Kings batter hit 36 sixes with 552 runs to his name. He also was the leading six hitter in IPL 2017, where he smashed 26 sixes with 310 runs. IPL 2016 had Virat Kohli written all over it as he registered almost every record to his name during that season. He smashed 38 sixes along with 973 runs.
Rishabh Pant, Andre Russell and Ishan Kishan hit Most sixes in IPL season 2018, 19 and 20 respectively with 37, 52 and 30 sixes to their name. All three had a decent season as they smashed more than 500 runs.
Former Punjab Kings skipper KL Rahul was the leading run-getter and six hitter in the IPL 2021. He scored 30 sixes in that season and scored 626 runs. Jos Buttler 45 sixes in the recently concluded IPL 2022 and set the stage on fire with his brutal power hitting. He was also the leading run-getter with 863 runs to his name.
