Pat Cummins IPL 50: In a massive development, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) Pat Cummins has record the joint fastest fifty in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) off just 14 balls against Mumbai Indians (MI). The Australian Test captain looked in a terrific form with the bat to take the Kolkata Knight Riders over the finishing line in a remarkable manner while playing his first match of the IPL 2022 season. The Kolkata Knight Riders have recorded their third win of the ongoing tournament by beating Mumbai Indians by 5 wickets.

Fastest fifty in IPL

For the Kolkata Knight Riders, Pat Cummins blasted the Mumbai Indians bowlers especially left-arm pacer Daniel Sams who conceded as many as 35 runs off the penultimate 16th over of the game. Cummins smashed the joint fastest fifty in the Indian Premier League history that came off only 14 deliveries and tied with KL Rahul who also reached the landmark off 14 balls in 2018. While coming onto bat with KKR at 101 for 5 in 13.1 overs, the swashbuckling right-hander looked to play his attacking game right from the start and notched up a stupendous unbeaten knock of 56 runs off just 15 balls that consisted of 6 sixes and 4 fours.

Apart from Rahul and Cummins, both of Sunil Narine and Yusuf Pathan have scored half-centuries in the Indian Premier League off just 15 balls each. Suresh Raina is the fifth name on the list with a brilliant fifty off 16 deliveries in IPL 2014.

After losing the toss and being put in to bat first at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, the Mumbai Indians posted a par total of 161 for 4 in their quota of 20 overs. While playing his opening game of the season, Suryakumar Yadav played an amazing innings of 52 runs off 36 deliveries. Tilak Varma also scored a crucial 38 not out while Kieron Pollard smacked an unbeaten cameo of 22 runs off just 5 balls.

In reply, Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target of 162 runs with a total of 24 balls to spare. Pat Cummins was the Man of the Match for his superb heroics with the bat of 56 not out while Venkatesh Iyer also remained unbeaten till the end with a fine 50 runs off 41 balls.
