Ravindra Jadeja injury: As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 gets within touching distance, plenty of players and fans are pumped for another season of non stop cricket. However, there are some star players who might be missing out a few games due to injury. One certain athlete is Chennai Super Kings’ very own Ravindra Jadeja.
The specialist all rounder has been out of action ever since sustaining a fracture to the finger in the tour to Australia. It’s been over two months since Jadeja has been on the sidelines, and there is little clarity as to when he returns to the field. However, the CSK faithful will be hoping to get one of their most important players back in the squad soon.
Ravindra Jadeja has featured in 185 IPL matches so far. He has scored 2159 runs in the process, while having a fifty and a strike rate of 126.5 to his name. The 32-year-old has also picked up 114 wickets, and is regarded as one of the finest fielders of modern day cricket.
CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan also recently expressed his unawareness Jadeja’s availability for the campaign ahead.
“We really don’t know when Jadeja is joining us. He has to get released by the National Cricket Academy (NCA),” Viswanathan said.
As of now, the Chennai Super Kings camp is undergoing preparations for the IPL, with the likes of MS Dhoni, Ambati Rayudu, Cheteshwar Pujara, Karn Sharma and the others out in training. The previous season was a disappointing one for the Yellow Army as they finished 6th and couldn’t make it to the playoffs for the first time in their history.
Nevertheless, with plenty of experienced candidates integrated with some exciting young prospects, MS Dhoni and his CSK side will be eying redemption of the highest level. The inclusion of star player Ravindra Jadeja somewhere down the line would only strengthen their side even more.
As of now, Jadeja is at the NCA in Bengaluru and is on the road to recovery, But there is a possibility of him missing out the first game for his team versus the Delhi Capitals on April 10.
The IPL 2021 will star off from April 9, with the first game of the season being contested between Mumbai Indians (MI) and the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.
