Anrich Nortje Out of SA vs IND 2021: In a big breaking news, South Africa’s premier speedster Anrich Nortje has been ruled out of the upcoming three-match Test series against India at home due to a persistent injury. South Africa is scheduled to host India for Test matches and a three-match ODI series starting with the Boxing Day Test from 26 December in Centurion.
In a massive blow, South Africa’s premier fast bowler Anrich Nortje will be unavailable for the three Test matches against India due to a “persisting injury” as stated by Cricket South Africa (CSA) in their latest Twitter post. The hosts have also mentioned in the tweet that they will not name any replacement for Nortje. South Africa have the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Lungi Ngidi, Beuran Hendricks, Duanne Olivier and Sisanda Magala as their fast bowlers in the Test squad while Marco Jansen and Wiaan Mulder are the seam-bowling all-rounders.

It is still not known whether Anrich Nortje will be able to recover in time for the three ODI matches against India on 19, 21 and 23 January 2022. The 28-year-old Proteas paceman has been a key wicket-taker for his team across the three formats of the game in the last couple of years having picked up as many as 47 wickets in just 12 Tests.
With Anrich Nortje’s injury, Kagiso Rabada and Duanne Olivier have now become certainties in the South Africa playing 11 for the first Test match against India in Centurion. It is also very much likely that Wiaan Mulder will find a place in the playing XI alongside one of Beuran Hendricks, Lungi Ngidi or Sisanda Magala for the opening game.
Cricket South Africa recently also released an official statement mentioning that both the cricketing boards have decided that SA vs IND 2021 tour will be played behind closed doors. No crowd will be allowed in the stadiums for both the Test series and ODI matches due to the current Covid-19 situation in South Africa.
