SL vs IND: Team India will be playing a total of 6 white-ball matches in the upcoming Sri Lanka tour starting from 13 July. The tour comprises of 3 ODIs and as many T20I matches. In order to prepare well for the upcoming limited-overs series, the Indian contingent played an intra-squad match on 28 June, Sunday.
India’s bowling coach for the Lanka tour, Paras Mhambrey, was given the responsibility to reveal the complete highlights of the India intra-squad match. In the 20-over intra-squad practice match, it was a face-off between Shikhar Dhawan XI and Bhuvneshwar Kumar XI. Shikhar’s team posted 150-odd runs in their allotted 20 overs where Manish Pandey was the highest run-scorer with 63 runs while Ruturaj Gaikwad scored 30-odd runs.
However, the Bhuvneshwar Kumar-led side chased down the target in just the 17th over with Suryakumar Yadav smashing a brilliant fifty. The duo of Prithvi Shaw and Devdutt Padikkal composed a valuable 60-run opening partnership.
“Shikhar won the toss and elected to bat. His team scored 150-odd in the allotted 20 overs. There were useful contributions from Ruturaj who got 30-odd runs. Manish Pandey was the highest scorer with 63,” India’s bowling coach Paras Mhambrey said in a video tweeted by BCCI.
“Bhuvneshwar’s team easily chased down the target in the 17th over with Suryakumar Yadav scoring a half-century. Devdutt Padikkal and Prithvi Shaw put on a 60-run opening partnership,” he added.
The Sri Lanka vs India series starts with the three ODI matches on 13, 16 and 18 July respectively. After the three-match ODI series, the T20Is will begin on 21 July while the tour ends on 25 July. All the six white-ball matches will take place at the R.Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed as the India captain in the absence of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah and Ravindra Jadeja who are currently in England. Also, Rahul Dravid is the head coach for the Lanka tour in the absence of Ravi Shastri.
