Bangladesh are going through a rough phase at the moment. Their series defeat to Zimbabwe and the group stage exit in the Asia Cup has hurt them big time. The upcoming T20 world cup 2022 will be an even more difficult task for them simply because of the alien conditions which they are not familiar with. They have always be a good ODI side but their T20I setup has always been abysmal to say the least.
Litton Das missed the Asia Cup due to injury and Bangladesh struggled to get good starts in the absence of him. He is one of the in form batsmen for Bangladesh in the last year and a half across formats. He will provide a massive boost to them. Asif Ali, another talented middle order batsman returns from injury and he will bolster their middle order in the absence of Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah.
They have left out Mahedi Hasan from the main squad along with their former skipper Mahmudullah. It was a change that many was not expecting, Mahmudullah is a good backfoot player and would have been handy in the Australian conditions but his returns in this format in the recent past has been beyond pathetic and one cannot blame BCB for dropping their former skipper.
The other noticeable absence is Shoriful Islam who would have been handy along with Mustafizur Rahman in the pace attack. Shoriful Islam is present in the stand-by.
