England

The England and Wales Cricket Board recently announced their squad for the upcoming T20 Cricket World Cup. Australia are set to host the tournament in October and November. The qualifier of the tournament is set to take off from October 16, while the Super 12 stage games will be played from October 22. The Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) will host the ultimate clash of the tournament will be played on November 13.
The English men won their first and the only T20 title back in 2010, with Paul Collingwood leading the camp. The side would be hoping for a breakthrough after a loss in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2021 against New Zealand. Subsequently, after a fairly miserable stint with Jos Buttler as the skipper and several injuries, England are set to rebuild. England will kick start their campaign on October 22 versus Afghanistan in Perth.

Buttler, the wicketkeeper batter, will open the innings likely with Phil Salt. Salt was the second-highest run-scorer of the Hundred 2022. He notched 353 runs in 10 innings with a strike rate of 152.81. However, England still got the Pakistan tour for the experiments, considering Alex Hales’s return to the squad. Hales has more than enough international experience and the right-hand batter has been incredible across the leagues. He was also among the top five run-getters of the Hundred 2022. Hales managed to score 259 runs in 9 innings at a strike rate of 152.35 in the event.
Dawid Malan, the regular member of the English team is prone to bat at number three, followed by Moeen Ali, Liam Livingstone, and Ben Stokes in the middle order. Ali and Livingstone, both are the batting all-rounders and can bowl reasonable off-spin. Stokes is coming back in the shorter format after a large period. He played his last T20 international against India in Ahmedabad, in March 2021. Sam Curran the lefty all-rounder is likely to follow Stokes in the lineup.

David Willey, Chris Jordan, and Reece Topley could be the other pacers on the board, along with Stokes. Willey is a left-arm bowling all-rounder and can provide match-winning batting cameos. Topley is the other left-arm pacer and is having a decent run considering his last few outings, especially against India last month. Jordan is a right-arm pacer in the camp and can smash the ball with a higher strike rate death.
Adil Rashid is the only leg-spinner on the team and will lead the English spin bowling unit in Australia.
Besides, Liam Dawson, Richard Gleeson, and Tymal Mills are the reserves. Mills, the highest wicket-taker from the last event has been ruled out of the crusade due to an injury but has been included in the squad as a reserved player.
