The countdown for the T20 World Cup 2022 has begun. The Marquee event is less than 50 days away from now. It will take place in Australia from 16th October to 13th November. Teams have started to announce the squads for the T20 World Cup 2022 and the latest entrant in the list are the two-time WT20 winner West Indies.

West Indies squad for the T20 World Cup 2022

Cricket West Indies on Wednesday (14th September) named their squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup 2022. The team will be lead by Nicholas Pooran with Rovman Powell being his deputy.

West Indies have recalled premier opener Evin Lewis along with pacer Sheldon Cottrell back in the side. The opener will play in the national colours for the first time since T20 World Cup 2022. Along with him, they have named uncapped all-rounders Yannic Cariah and Raymon Reifer in the team.

While Shimron Hetmyer, Jason Holder, Akeal Hosein, Alzarri Joseph, Brandon King, Evin Lewis, Kyle Mayers, Obed Mccoy, Raymon Reifer, Odean Smith retained their places, the likes of Fabian Allen, Hayden Walsh Jr and Andre Russell missed out.

West Indies schedule for T20 World Cup 2022

Since West Indies haven’t qualified for the Super 12 stage of the tournament, they have to play qualifier stage of the tournament. They will begin their campaign against Scotland on 17th October.

They will then play Zimbabwe on October 19 and then Ireland on October 21. If they manage to finish in the top two positions they will then qualify for the Super 12 stage.
