By Himanshu Sharma @boringcricket

Teachers hold a special place in our hearts for influencing, inspiring and guiding us. Every year on September 5th, Teacher’s Day is celebrated all across India and cricket fraternity have also joined in to remember their gurus.

The master blaster, Sachin Tendulkar was one of the first to take to social media and appreciate teacher’s contribution in our lives. His tweet read, ” Without teachers, our lives wouldn’t have been the same. So let’s continue to appreciate their contribution in making us who we are today. Happy #TeachersDay

The dependable, former India batsman VVS Laxman credited teachers for bestowing him with passion, preparation and perseverance. Laxam tweeted, “Who taught me passion, preparation & perseverance? I learnt it from Sport. I dedicate this Teachers’ Day to Sport! What about you, what has it taught you?

Suresh Raina called “sports” the greatest teacher. His tweet read “Fighting situations, staying fit…I’ve learnt a lot from Sport and it’s been one of my greatest teachers. What has it taught you?

Harbhajan called cricket his tutor and thanked the sport for giving all the priceless experiences. He tweeted, “Cricket has taught me everything in life. It’s not just playing cricket at the end of the day. You go back home with experiences you’ll never forget. I learnt how to go about life, how to deal with ups and downs, and came across the best mentors and friends!

IPL franchises did not hold back from thanking the mentors for helping cricketers become better at the game. KKRiders tweeted, “Special thanks to @jacqueskallis75, coach Katto, Heath Streak, @abhisheknayar1 and Carl Crowe for mentoring our #Knights through the #IPL and guiding them to become better cricketers. #TeachersDay #KorboLorboJeetbo

It might be nearly impossible to capture gratitude with a small note or tiny token but let’s thank them, those teachers who have taught us to believe and lightening our lives.
