Trent Boult catch: Twitter went to a frenzy after New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult took a sensational one handed catch to dismiss Bangladesh’s Liton Das. Apart from the cricketing fans, the International Cricket Council (ICC) also defined the catch as ‘ridiculously good’.
It happened in the third and final ODI of the three match series. New ball bowler, Matt Henry bowled a good length ball aimed to the body of Liton Das. The frontline batsman tried nudging it away, but took a leading edge of it. Boult fielding at third man, had little time to adjust and had to make the precise anticipation.
The Kiwi pacer rushed in forward and made a full length dive towards the left as he eventually grasped onto the ball. Some players were confused as to what just happened, but Trent Boult was confident that he completed the catch. He even held the pose that the batsman is out by pointing his finger to the heavens.
This isn’t the first time Trent Boult has done something spectacular on the field, as he has also showcased his athleticism in the IPL. The left-arm pacer took another one handed blinder to dismiss Virat Kohli in the 2018 edition of the IPL, which left everyone astonished.
Trent Boult was once again one of the standouts in the ODI series versus Bangladesh. The 31-year-old picked up five wickets from three games and played a pivotal role in his side for winning the 1st ODI, 2nd ODI and the 3rd ODI. The Kiwis now have the three-match T20I series coming up against Bangladesh as they look to stamp their authority their as well.
The next frontier for Trent Boult and some of his other New Zealand team mates will be the IPL 2021 that stats on April 9. Boult was a valued member of the champions Mumbai Indians last season, and will be aiming to continue taking wickets like he did ever so brilliantly.
