WI Playing 11: Iterating their track record in the One-Day Internationals, the West Indies gave away their form in the first ODI against Bangladesh. After dominating the test series and further winning the T20I’s by 2-0 against Bangladesh, the host i.e. WI encountered the same batting improvisation problem which they had been through in the last couple of years. WI skipper Nicholas Pooran mentioned in his interview that they need to adjust to the different formats and play in a way as the game demands.
The West Indian form of cricket is aggressive and this sometimes becomes a problem for them. In critical phases, when a partnership is required, this intrinsic nature instigates them to hit big shots and consequently lose their wickets. This has been a matter of concern and one of the reasons for the underrated performance of the West Indies Cricket team in ODIs.
