Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is excited for his first international match against Pakistan. He said that he is more excited than nervous about the game which will be played on September 19 in Asia Cup.
The spinner stated that playing against Pakistan was always in his bucket list and so far he hasn’t experienced what it feels like playing against the arch-rivals but he is looking forward to it.
Yuzvendra Chahal who has become India’s lead spinner in a short span said that he has watched all India-Pakistan games. And he thinks that the 1996 World Cup game stands out.
Talking about the hype of India vs Pakistan matches, Chahal stated that every game is a favourite actually but it’s about the expectation that people have from cricketers.
He noted that whichever team he is playing, he values wickets the same. He added that he knows if he takes five wickets, he will be Man of the Match.
When asked about the role of MS Dhoni behind the stumps, Chahal revealed that Dhoni provides a lot of insights about the batsmen to the bowlers.
He said Dhoni tells us very early how the wicket is behaving and also tells us what the batsman is trying to do. Chahal stated that this gives an idea even before he comes to bowl, instead of him finding out after bowling two or three overs.
The leg spinner pointed out that Dhoni has been a captain, he’s played for so many years and has a wealth of experience. He watches the batsmen closely and knows what it is to play on such surfaces.
Chahal stated that sometimes when he has a plan that is different to what Dhoni thinks, they discuss it. It’s not like Dhoni rejects their plan.
