Hasan Ali in his short career span has emerged as a dangerous bowler in ODI cricket. Unlike other seamers, Ali has the ability to control the game with the old ball which makes him a massive threat in the middle overs.

Hasan Ali makes batsmen play all balls: Chopra

In the video Aakash Chopra speaks in detail about Hasan Ali’s bowling skills. Chopra says that there are two types of bowlers, one those who swing the ball in the air like James Anderson and the other who are seam bowlers who don’t swing the ball in the air. Their deliveries follow a straight line after they are released from the hand but after pitching, the ball moves in either direction. According to Chopra, Hasan Ali is a seam bowler.

Chopra points out that Ali’s most wickets are LBW or bowled which means he bowls stump to stump and he makes the batsmen play every ball.

Play straight and not across: Chopra’s mantra to negotiate Hasan Ali’s threat

Aakash Chopra says that Ali’s deliveries can move in either direction after pitching. Hence the Indian batsmen must play in a straight line to ensure they are presenting full face of the bat to the ball.

He also advises the batsmen not to play across the line of the ball as Ali bowls at a quick pace and playing across increases the chances of leg before wicket.

At the same time the former Indian cricketer insists the batsmen should be playing close to the body and not on the up.

The right-hand batsman makes it clear that negotiating the threat of Hasan Ali is crucial for India to win the game against Pakistan.

India and Pakistan are set to lock horns against each other on September 19 in Asia Cup.
