Who won today’s IPL match?: In what was the 45th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Delhi Capitals (DC) squared off with Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The game went down the wire and saw both the teams fighting till the very end. But in the end it was yet agains LSG bowlers who stood tall for their side and defended a target after almost being put on the backfoot. They thumped DC by 6 runs to go second on the points table.

Batting first, after winning the toss, Lucknow Super Giants had a decent outing with the bat. They rode on half centuries by skipper KL Rahul (77) and Deepak Hooda (52) and posted a target of 195 runs on the board. For DC, Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers as he took all the three wickets and returned with the figures of 3/40.

Chasing the target, DC lost both openers Prithvi Shaw (5) and David Warner (3) early, but that was a blessing in disguise for them as then Mitchell Marsh and Rishabh Pant counter attacked LSG bowlers for their 60 runs partnership in just 25 balls. DC after that were in a spot of bother as they lost Marsh (37) and Lalit (3) in quick succession. Pant perished after that for 44 as they found themselves tumbling at 120/5. Mohsin Khan then turned the game in his side’s favour with four-wicket haul. With 21 runs needed off the last over, Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel gave LSG a scare but Marcus Stoinis held his nerves well to close the match for his side by 6 runs.

Lucknow Super Giants pacer Mohsin Khan was awarded Player of the Match in today’s encounter against Delhi Capitals. The left-arm bowled a terrific spell of fast bowling and turned the game in his side’s favour with his four wicket haul. He removed the likes of David Warner, Rishabh Pant, Rovman Powell and Shardul Thakur to put Delhi under pressure and subsequently win the match.
