The 4th Test match between England and India will be an important fixture and can decide the series results. After the Indian team’s strong performance in the 2nd Test where they played well in both department, they have been brought to backfoot by the home team, England. The England pacers have been performing well in seaming conditions, with James Anderson and Ollie Robinson being the best bowlers in the series. The Indian team has not been to perform well as a batting unit, which has been a negative since the 3rd Test.
The visitors have again failed to get a good start in the seam-friendly conditions. Although, the openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started the innings well and struck few boundaries to give the team a good confidence. But, a beauty from Chris Woakes caught Rohit Sharma off-guard resulting in a fine nick, with Bairstow accepting the gift. Then, KL Rahul while trying to build the innings was dismissed in Leg Before Wicket dismissal to Ollie Robinson.
The experience of Virat Kohli and Pujara sought to stitch a crucial partnership and started to settle down, but James Anderson again was impressive with his lengths and took the wicket of the latter batsman.
In a surprise call, Ravindra Jadeja has been promoted up the order and is batting along side with Kohli as his partner. The all-rounder Jadeja would have also been a tactical move, due to left-right combination which would help in disturbing the flow of England bowlers. The Indian team are currently struggling with 3 wickets down and need to stitch crucial partnerships to set a good total in the 1st innings.
The next batsmen will be Ajinkya Rahane and Rishabh Pant who have not been consistent in their performances.
