Dream11 Team Prediction

Test cricket is the purest form of the game. It was fading away ever since the inception of T20 cricket which eventually forced ICC to come up with something new for the survival of Test cricket.

The proposed plans for the World Test Championship laid its foundations back in 2014, but it took 5 long years to get it implemented when it finally got the green light in August 2019 with the Ashes summer. If we talk about the current standings of World Test Championship, the number one Test team India sits at the top with 360 points followed by Australia 296 points, New Zealand 180 points and England with 146 points.

This is how the top 4 in World Test Championship fare and with the tournament set to for a final in 2021, many permutations and combinations might come into play which can shuffle the current scenario of the points table.

Dream11 Today Match prediction

In today match prediction, we are picking three batsmen who are expected to finish as the leading run-getters in the tournament. Australia’s Steve Smith, Indian skipper Virat Kohli and New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson are our picks here. Comparisons are always drawn among the three for who is the greatest in this generation which makes it quite obvious that one among these three is expected to finish at the top.

Steve Smith

The former Australian skipper is a modern-day great. His unorthodox batting style is appealing and differentiates him from the other breed of batsmen. The tainted cricketer averages 62.84 in Test cricket which is the best in this era.

After serving a ban last year for ball-tampering, Steve Smith made an emphatic return into the Test arena by slamming two centuries and a double century in the four matches he played. He emerged as the highest run-scorer in series and also regained the numero uno position in Test rankings. Since his return after the unfortunate turn of events, he has amassed 1028 runs from just 14 innings at a scintillating average of 73.42.

Virat Kohli

The epitome of batting in the current generation of cricket. Formats don’t define him as he is a pillar of consistency in each and every form of cricket. The Indian skipper has been phenomenal and will be looking to regain his number one position in Test rankings.

The right-hander has accumulated 7240 runs from 145 runs and his average is creeping up game by game. He currently averages 53.62 in Test cricket. Talking about his numbers since 2019, the stalwart batsman has scored 650 runs from 15 innings at an average of 50. A debate has always surfaced over Steve Smith and Virat Kohli who among the two is the greatest, however, there is no end to this debate and in future both these batsmen will find a place in the Hall of Fame of Test cricket.

Kane Williamson

The Blackcaps skipper hasn’t got the footage or should we say the accolade which he richly deserves. Everyone keeps talking about the impact Steve Smith and Virat Kohli have in Test cricket, but Kane Williamson is definitely someone who should deservingly make it to this list.

The 29-year old has managed 6476 runs from 140 innings in Test cricket. He is pipped to break all the batting records in New Zealand cricket history. Since 2019, he has managed 621 runs from 15 innings at an average of 47.76. His batting style is praised al around the globe and his nature on the field is the best example of the “Gentleman’s game”.
